It's all about the Ring... Diamonds are a girl's best friend.... bling bling!

Photobucket

I must say that when i was younger, I really am not a big fan of diamonds and I do not see the big fuss of it. I was like telling myself that I would rather use the money on something else other than a diamond but here I am now... obsessing over my proposal ring.

When I was 21, my mom gave me her diamond. It was initially a diamond ring but she removed it and made it into a heart shaped pendant for me. She asked me what I wanted for my 21st birthday and I have no freaking idea as all I wanted was to spend time with my friends and that made me happy.

I could have asked for money but come to think of it, I am glad that I did not as the money can be easily earned back but the gift from my mom will last forever *singing diamonds are forever.. forever..*

Well actually when I got it from my mom since my 21st birthday, never have I wore it once. I was scared to lose it and kinda wasn't really into it at that time and I still never got to taking it out to wear it yet.

Before dada proposed to me, he did sort of ask me what kind of diamonds do I like. Well all along I fancy a princess cut diamond or even a heart shaped ones but I decided against it and think a solitaire suits better. At that point of time, I knew nothing about diamonds and not even sure what's good in the market and where can we purchase it except for places like lee hwa, soo kee and the usual stores we see in the mall. I have always heard of the lovely blue box that make most girls' knees go weak but never really dared to walk into the shop to take a look at them.

We sort of looked around for what type of setting I fancy but its the same classic kind that draws me over. Dada brought me to some places to see e.g. gold heart, Tiffany, Larry Jewellery, Charlotte de Atelier and some other places I can't recall. At times I was getting tired as I do not know what I like and we were planning on getting married anytime soon yet so I just go along but was quite sure my taste will change when time passes by. I have seasonal preference haha..

I must say I am pretty impress by dada as he really made an effort to find out about diamonds, what to look out for and how to choose the perfect one for me. He wanted the best, but its the best out of the best for me. I read somewhere online that this guy posted that he went into Tiffany & Co or was it Larry's I can't recall, to buy a proposal ring for his girlfriend and he said that as long as it is Tiffany's its good. Personally if dada is like this, I will be very disappointed as I feel it's as if the guy's lazy and is taking the easy way out.

And how did i know that dada did not take the easy way out? It's cause I know he has been emailing the New York Tiffany headquarters to provide him with the specific specs of each diamond that he shortlisted. He showed them to me and I was very touched as I see the effort that he has put in, ensuring that I have the best cut and proportion so that my diamond is mad shiny.

What made it special? Dada requested for the ring to be shipped from the States so that he can buy it for me. *P.S requesting for sending from the States does not incur additional cost - Thank god!* And why it's so special its cause my dada is not a big boss, a big shot or someone who comes from a rich or well to do family. He comes from a humble background and cause he loves me, he save and save so that he can buy me something that he wants for me.

I know a lot of people wonder why did he spend so much and that it is a waste of money or whatever but seriously I don't really give a shit as to what they think cause it's mine and I love it! I think seriously that's what dada wants to, that his little princess is happy.. Though I feel his wallet is not that happy haha.. well start to save again lo.

I love the way it looks on my finger and loves the Oohing and Aahing from others who sees it. Most importantly I love it that it is from dada and I will treasure it.

Now say you are a guy and you want your girl to marry you. Please at least prepare a decent proposal as you are asking the girl of our dreams to spend the rest of her life with you. At least have some decency to do something for her. I have to say if dada ever used the typical "Let's get a HDB" reason to ask me to marry him. I may have or will beat him upside down haha. It doesn't have to be something fancy. Some girls prefer the private and quiet way. But please.. at least something ok..

To select the perfect diamond ring, most importantly is the 4Cs.

- Cut
- Clarity
- Colours
- Carat

Well different people will treat each C with different importance. Some may treat all with equal importance.

For cut, I personally feel that this is very important as it will play a big part in how brilliant your diamond will shine. A normal cut should have 58 facets for a round standard diamond. The crown angel and the pavillion angel must be of a certain proportion so that it will look good. I believe dada told me before that there is a calculator online (from GIA?) to tell you how your diamond fare when you enter in the different Angles and Proportion of your diamond. That's what he did as a basic check before he bought mine too so as to have another assurance and a piece of mine. The Polish and Symmetry plays a huge part as well as all these will affect the grading of your diamond. My personally recommendation of course will be a triple excellent piece for polish, symmetry and proportions but! A very good rating works pretty fine too.

For clarity, it ranges from Flawless to Included. The closer the clarity gets to being flawless, the more expensive the diamond. The order of the clarity goes like this

1) FL - Flawless
2) IF - Internally Flawless
3) VVS1, VVS2 - Very Very Slightly Included
4) VS1, VS2 - Very Slightly Included
5) SI1, SI2 - Slightly Included
6) I1, I2, I3 - Included

Based on what I know, a VS2 and above is good enough as the inclusions can't really be seen with the naked eye so if you want a bigger rock but not sure where to trim the fat, this maybe a good place to look into.

For Colours, it does not start with A or B but it starts from D to Z. What I am refering here is a pure white diamond. Of course if yours is a yellow or pink one, that I have to say I do not know how to tell hehehe... How are the colours differentiated? The diamond graders just place the diamonds with their pavilion up (bottoms up hehe), and examine them using white light against a white background.
The colour of the diamonds are then compared to the calibration diamonds provided by grading labs. The DEF colours are usually knows as the colourless range, the GHI will be the near colourless range while K-M are faintly tinted and so on. Please take note of the fluorescence of the diamond as well as usually from what I know, they should be stated as none. The higher the fluorescence, the more it affects the value of the diamond... in a bad way that is..

Lastly!!! its the Carat! This I have nothing to say cause it all depends on the budget and the suitability of the diamond for the girl. Most importantly it is the heart that counts coming from the guy.

But be sure at least to sound out the girl what kinda ring they might fancy otherwise they are going to be stuck with it for the rest of their lifes so at least get something they might like. Get help from her family or friends and I am sure there will be people willing to help on this.

Branding plays a big part as well I guess. Of course if it's a designer brand, get ready to pay more. Please ensure to check on the after service. Some places only offer a one time polishing service and that's it. Others will provide lifetime cleaning services to you.

Not forgetting please ensure that your diamond is certified by a reputable lab. Certs from AGS, GIA are the more commonly known ones. Tiffany and Co has their own personal lab to grade their diamonds whereas for Larry Lazare diamonds, on top of the GIA cert, they have another in house cert to ensure that it is indeed under strict grading by Lazare themselves as well.

All these little information as passed on to me from dada and I am very happy he shared with me the journey he had to find the perfect ring for me.

We are left with less than 1 month to our big day!!

So exciting!! Can't wait!!

Not much time to blog but I do hope everything goes well soon!!

Monday, November 30, 2009

We have been real busy the past few days...

Accomplish a few things... not bad I would say but there are still a lot of other things to be done.

Last Sunday, I went for a photoshot session with Janet and Eelyn and it was lotsa fun! I am so happy to get to know the girls!!! It was indeed a tiring day but it was good as it gives me and dada a feel of what will happen during our actual day photoshot and let us know what suits us.. Argh I still got a problem cause of my chubby face which I really need to do something.. more facial exercise maybe hahaha.. Shall not post my photos yet :)

Then on thurs~~ I meet my darling lovely girls for dinner! Miss them so much!! its always being with my besties that make me feel so me and that I can really be myself to let loose and enjoy without caring what others think of me.. We went to have sukiyaki in ION and its yummy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On Friday, I went for my ROM food tasting.. actually me and dada don't really have much expectation and we just went to try and boy are we surprised.. the food actually tasted not that bad.. I mean its a spanish restaurant and its too attas to really go for usual dinner and the food ain't what I may eat.. but then again they have international and asian cuisine as well so ok lo! quite happy la!

We finally settled and grabbed our wedding bands on Sunday!!! We have eyed these rings for months already (maybe since Aug/Sep?) but we were just taking our own sweet time to confirm it. Anyway we got something we each really liked... we have our difference in terms of opinions and preference so we actually decided not to get a matching pair as that's like so duh and we dun really fancy any matching pairs out there... I must say initially I did have my concerns with not having a matching band with dear but then again, I don't want to get a band just to match his and I may not like it as much and neither do I want him to get something just to match mine and he will not love it as much too!

Today we went to meet our videographer! Seems like a nice dude! Hope everything does well! *cross fingers* not only that! I went to meet Eelyn and Janet today to pass them the photos that we took during the photoshoot on last sunday! We were all so happy and as usual we chat till about 10plus before we make our way home.. can't wait to meet them again soon!

Adel surprised me this morning!!! I went to make my beverage this morning and when i came back to my table! I saw a packet of my favourite rose tea!!! Can't wait to drink that tomorrow! I was running out of it and now I am so happy!!!

As for florist argh!! I am still struggling with this!!! But then I have decided that the flower colours will be in champagne, light pink and white? I think so!!!!

Not to forget I must remember to give my bridal studio the photo of the bouquet I want for my ROM hand bouquet.

I know my post today is in bits and pieces but I can't seem to get my words intact today.

I think I still got a lot to do! but the most important thing now is to catch new moon!!! Edward Cullen!!! here I come!!!

ROM updates!

Photobucket

I'm soooo busy that I have no idea what I am busy with.. With less than 3 months to my ROM, I have been confirming things here and there... deciding stuff now and then..

I will officially become AUNTIE on the 23rd Jan 2010...

(p.s i like the date eh cause every year my anniversary is on 0123 bwahaha buy 4d ok!!!)

I have no idea what I have done and what else there might be to do. Maybe it's good that I have them listed down slowly eh..

1) Venue
After sourcing many venues.. ok frankly not as much as finding my actual wedding day banquet venue but still.. after running around Singapore.. after must hesitation and frustration (drama again)... we have settled and decided to hold our Solemnization Ceremony at....

....
........
.........
...........
.............
...............

*drum roll*

The Singapore Art Museum!

Photobucket

The ceremony will be held in the Auditorium and I am sooo excited!

I simple Lurrrvveee it (with the Capital L of course!)

It's beautiful isn't it.. Well I and dada just love the entire look and feel of it..

Well we did consider other locations like Fullerton hotel, Raffles hotel's lawn as well as Grand Copthorne for solemnization but this place captured our hearts.. hehe

One thing very important for us is also the rain! Nov-Jan is rainy season and I don't want to have headache and worry about that!

We paid our deposit.. and we are off planning!!

2) Justice of The Peace
Ahhhh... We have scored ourselves the hottest JP in town! For months I have been hearing that Mr Chan Kai Yau is great but as I do not know any other good JPs, I thought I still have lots of time to source for one.. So one day.. a few weeks back, I read that Mr Chan is booked by 10 other couples on 23rd January as well.. I did consider Mr Phang and Mrs Chia but you know me, I want the best that I can get and nearly burst into tears as I thought I cannot get Mr Chan to grace my big day.. *rolls eyes - come to think of it I am a damn DrAMA MAMA Bride.. bridezilla.. ooh no.." So dada told me not to think so much and just give him a call to see if he can... and thankfully!! Mr Chan is free at the timing I want!!! We confirmed with him immediately and TADA!!!! I still don't know why he is good and yet I want him to be there!! I want someone serious, yet humourous and I heard he fits what I want...

*P.S godma's JP is him as well and she likes him a lot!! phew!! hope all goes well!*
*Cross Fingers*

3) Food
I have 3 choice actually...
- get outside caterer and just hold a simple tea reception at the courtyard.. nothing fantastic but the food can be of a better choice depending on which caterer I go to...
- Dome Cafe at SAM.. I can book the whole restaurant.. lovely place.. warm and cozy... just that I find that the catering set up wasn't fantastic.. too simple plain in my own opinion.. Can accomodate all my guest in the place also but there's still something missing..
- Via Mar restaurant at SAM... Atas expensive restaurant on it's own.. sister company to the famous Viet Lang restaurant at ACM. Then again I have not tried Via Mar's food before and am a bit worried frankly speaking.. They let me have the whole restaurant and they have staff to assist me.. I trust that the food should be at least of some standard.. then again the only thing that is stopping me is that the place cannot hold all of my guest so its a part indoor part Alfresco dining kinda idea which is kinda cool also as there are guest who may prefer outdoor dining too... Contradicting I know.. it's frustrating hehe

Still deciding between the 3.. headache...

4) Photographer
We have decided to engage Melvin Ho to be our main photographer on our big day! Melvin is a very nice and funny guy.. get along with dada very well and I am happy for that.. So that settles!!

5) Videographer
After soooo many months of searching... sooooo pissed with some people wasting my time.. I finally found Johnny and Derrick who is able to capture the day for us on High Definition!!! Never mind what that means as long as I look nice day that can liao!!!

6) Gowns and makeup
My Bridal Studio - Sophia Weddings, will be providing me the gown! I have gone for my selection and have confirmed the gown already! But still! Kiasu me always think that it's good to have backups! I shall not go into that and will keep it a secret for now hehehe! As for my makeup artist, I have confirm and chop the ever popular and famous Miss Candy from my bridal studio! Can't wait! *note to self: please remember to get Candy to do more shading on my face so it doesn't look so round.. bwahahaha* Ooh by the way, dada's suit is provided as well.. not forgetting my hand bouquet too!!

7) Theme
Regardless of where I am holding my ceremony, my theme is "Fairytale".. the princess in me is starting to ignite again.. The Princess (which is me) and the Prince (which is dada) will be the star of the show that day! And they shall live happily ever after..

8) Invitation cards
I've gotten them designed and am waiting for the final confirmation of the design and print out! With our powers unite.. me and didi (well mostly done by didi who got bossed around by me) have come out with the design that was finally approved by me.. I will try to show how it looks like when I have obtained it!

9) Guest List
Yup that is completed but we have yet to inform all our guest.. We are very sorry if we are unable to invite everyone as it is just a small ceremony for family and just a handful of friends... but rest assured, I will invite you to my Actual Day Banquet!!!

10) Hotel
This is unnecessary splurging but we still think we wanna go along with it.. We will book a hotel room whereby I can make up and go back and rest after the ceremony.. We are thinking of Swissotel the Stamford(great view) or Hotel Intercontinental(great place). The reason why we have these 2 in mind is due to the fact it is near SAM.

11) Jie Meis and Xiong Dis.
I have not come up with who needs to do what yet.. shall slowly plan!!
Need to meet up and discuss with them soon!

12) Florist
Not done yet!! Maybe I will part DIY part engaging a third party to help me but the place is really breath taking enough.. I just need to add in a bit more... I'm not a sucker for flowers as long as the place looks nice I am good to go..

13) Songs for the day..
Chicken feet... shall do this later..

14) ROM administrative stuff
Must register online to book the date you want. Please remember to have your witness details handy as you will need it during registration.

15) Wedding Favours
I wanted to have this initially but decided against that eventually as I find that it is kinda a bit of additional expenses that I can save.. I think most importantly.. my guest will want to see me happy on that day and that is what matters..

16) Wedding Bands
Oops we have actually long selected a pair of rings from Tiffany and Co but still did not purchase it yet as we thought we might find something else along the way.. I think we still got some time on this so I am not that worried.. hehe

17) Cost / Money
Ok I shall live in denial for this!
I don't want to know how much we have spent! Shall leave that to dear!!

I guess that's about it!! I hope I did not miss out anything!! If I did, please let me know!! Off to get my beauty sleep!! Working night shift again this coming week.. so sad.. so tiring.. ooh well.. The princess is off to bed!! Good night!!

Ok this maybe a bit late but what's with the people going on and on about the leopard preens and Boomz! stuff going on..

Ok I must admit that I am a tat guilty of it as dada and me was laughing our ass off to a youtube video whereby they actually remix it with Ris Low's boomz and preens all over... its real entertaining and damn mean I tell you.. but these are the skeletons i kept in my closet as I will not do it in public haha...

I really really feel that music plays a big part of my life.. having NOT listening to much music for the past few months, I felt that I am boring, whiney, bitchy and whatever (not that with music I am not, but its just different ok...)

I think listening to feel good music really lifts my mood up man... starts singing "I got a feeling... that tonight's gonna be a good night" its a darn feel good song man..

And we have decided that I shall be the main in charge for our wedding songs.. and I don't be surprise if you start hearing Rnb in the background.. haha kidding.. I am kidding right? I am not sure yet.. we shall see :P

With a darn good mood now.. all thanks for black eye peas in the background now.. I have decided to blog today... Let's start now..

Well... within a span of 2 min, my mood was dampen slightly.. as I can't find my digicam wire, which means I can't share some of my pictures with you.. Ok song on replay...

You do know that there are evil things out there which love to tempt us all the time.. and dada and I found our latest evil temptation.. why I say it is evil.. its cause it is such a waste of money but its all good fun...

It's those damn machines you see in shopping centres nowadays that allows us to "catch" soft toys..

and I was so darn happy when dada catches a toy for me..

The first one dada caught was actually ELMO!! come let's sing with me... this is the song lalala elmo song.. ahem.. and here a silly picture of me posing with it..

Paiseh the graphics ain't all that fantastic but we shall make do with it shall we...

So... recently, dada and I attended a Fengshui seminar held by Master David Tong and i do have to admit it a one hell of a nice fellow.. Initially dada and I had our concerns with getting married in the year of the Tiger but after attending the seminar with lots of myths and legends clarified by Master Tong, we decided to go for it and let's not wait any longer to get married..

Photobucket

I have to say that if you are a new bird and all it will be good to attend this seminar.. initially I was really afraid that I will fall asleep or that someone will start preaching and telling me things that will make even my toes yawn but heh it was so much more fun...

Here's a picture of my vainpot :P

Photobucket

Photobucket

The above picture is what Master Tong claims to be the Ba Gua in the olden days.. this is what people use..

I have to say it is indeed an enriching session and we learnt a lot from it..

I guess the next thing me and dada should attend will be a marriage prep course, else he might have more blueblacks faster that you can say hello... haha

I'm sure by now all of you guys should have made a trip down to one of Singapore's most "Liao lui" (waste money) Shopping Centre ION!!!! well everything is tmd expensive.. I fell in love with 2 things over there! First of them is Provence the bakery!! I love the Wassant!! Choco de!! My love!!! well but den again I feel that Holland V's the original and taste the best but ahh I hate to travel all the way there!

Photobucket
Yummy Wassant!!

Photobucket
Yummy milk buns!!

The second is the peking duck at the basement! Yummy....

Well I had a relaxing weekend a few weeks back.. went with my lonnnggg time CS.. yes CS as in counterstrike.. those days when I will shout Chiong ahhhh or slam my mouse (yes very guilty of it and its damn irritating.. my poor mouse) when i got fragged.. and those GG days... long gone... but the friends still stays... So... Turtle jioed me and dada to Batam for the weekend and we will be staying in Holiday Inn in a suite!! yay!!! We got good rates as turtle got lobang and the funny thing is... turtle and dada actually belongs to the same camp too hahah small world le... The Random Post after a long time

Hi Everyone!

I know I should be blogging but I was so busy!!!

Wow! I din't realised that I did not blogged for almost an entire month!

Work sucks as usual.. having to face some sickening people everyday.

As if work isn't bad enough, you have people making work suck even more.

What's with the "I'm better than you" or whatever blardy attitude that you think others have to endure. No one owes you anything so don't give attitude as if the whole world owes you.

I have decided I shall not be an old fat frumpy bitch and be a happy and blissful bride.

Well well well... I know I am suppose to blog about how to go about arranging for the ROM session and I am still working on that.

My ROM in fact will be held on 23 Jan 2010 and I have to say I have done nothing!

Damn.. I am starting to get worried but I know that I can't confirm my JP or file anything if I can't even get my venue sorted out! Thank god that I have tentatively CHOPE my dream ROM venue and I am not sure what the hell I am waiting for, I am still seating on it not paying the deposit yet.

Maybe I don't wanna get married.. ahaha just kidding dear :P

We will be busy the next few weeks to come.. I need to try my ROM dress this weekend, we need to fix and meet our caterer.. as also need to find the florist if we can afford to.. as well as to confirm our photographer and videographer if any.

It's all gonna happen in around 3 months time and yet I think there's still time.. maybe there is maybe not.. last minute me as usual :P

Dada and I have decided and fixed that we will hold our Actual Day wedding banquet on 2nd Oct 2010! I was kinda happy with the date as it is like 02102010 or the american way will be 10022010. Either way its mostly just 2 and 1 hahahahaahahhaa...

After going to almost all the hotels in Singapore - 5 and 4 stars just to be more precise in case you think I am crazy, I am not joking... dear and I went to almost all of them to view the ballrooms. Initially we shortlisted 5 (in no order) - Intercontinental, Conrad, Shangrila, Raffles Hotel and Pan Pac (if I remember correctly). Then it was down to 3 - Intercontinental, Conrad and Shangrila. You know what... I really really like Intercontinental's ballroom. It is beautiful but as you see the date that I want is a Saturday and being an auspicious day, it is a damn blardy expensive place to hold a wedding.. If i remember correctly, to hold a wedding in Intercontinental on a Friday, it's around $888 or so but on an auspicious weekend, it is like $400 more per table. Freaking crazy right.. It's not about the money as must (tho it plays the main part) but y pay something that is so much more just cause its a weekend.. if consistently even on a weekday it is just as ex if not just slightly cheaper.. then its still not that bad.

Conrad is a lovely and cozy place... however, we choose Shangrila Orchard in the end. I love the grand island ballroom and will give an arm and leg to hold my wedding there. Not to mention the big hole in my darling's pocket after the wedding haha. As you can see, Shangrila has 2 ballroom. The island ballroom and the Tower ballroom. The difference between this 2 rooms are that one is bigger and the other is smaller.. and the feel is different as well - obviously, the island ballroom feels more grand. As what I told my mummy, if I can't have the best, I rather have none at all. That's if I can't get the island, I would rather take somewhere else instead. *spoilt brat detected once again* Dada likes it very much.. in fact more than me.. and I am the kind that if you like I also like la! as long as I don't hate it can liao...

Another important factor that plays a part in our selection is that Shangrila is the place my daddy loves and me being me, always trying to impress daddy to get his attention bwahahhaa of course I have to get something he likes too.. Shangrila brings him lots of fond memories of his younger days where he spend it with his ex colleagues and my mummy trying to be the taitai that obviously she can't seem to fake her way through hahahhaa (my mum is a workaholic unlike me wahaha) and me running around the place like some spoil brat trying different types of cakes and pastry and pestering daddy when can i get out of that boring place with boring uncles who likes to pinch me so much. Dada apparently brought Auntie - my future mother in law.. funny how it sounds... opps, and she likes the place very muchhhhhh... ahhh since it pleases everyone, it pleases me as well.. for now that is.. cause the picky brat has not found things to pick on yet.

So Shangrila it shall be on 2nd Oct 2010. Will be meeting my wedding coordinator who also happens to be Fann Wong's coordinator *beams with pride* not that I like Fann or anything (say as if I know her for ages) but she's a celeb afterall.. and yea yea I am not and that's the closest I can get... cheap thrill :P

The most headache thing abt this is the guest list... am going to have a big headache over that I guess.. Hope to go through that with minimum tears and frustration.

So long for now... tata and see ya.. till my next entry ^^

XOXO Gossip Girl

After watching season one, I told myself specifically that I will not watch Season 2 till its fully aired so that I don't have to go through the pain of waiting for each damn episode.

Damn I have to say season 2 is darn good! I watched all 25 episodes in just a few days!!

Ok I dig Chuck Bass A LOT!!! He is soooo CHUCK!

I have to say when I first caught Gossip girl, I was smitten by Nate Archibald. He is so handsome la! But more and more into the show, move over Nate, Chuck is woo hooo!

Yea yea sometimes girls do love the bad guys and Chuck is a piece of badass in that show.

Photobucket

Aww man isn't he great!

Anyway I still cannot get over the fact that he is dating Vanessa (the character in gossip girl) in real life too! I was like " WHAT!! "

As for Blair or Serena, I am definitely a Blair kinda girl..

Maybe that is why I like Chuck! haha they are meant for each other! Leighton Meester is sooooo pretty. If only I am half as pretty as she is... sigh...

Sometimes I feel that Singapore is just so boring.. why can't we have dramas or series like that? Everything is like just so family oriented.. so goody goody.. even their evil plotted shows seems so serious (take that adrian pang show for example.. was it red thread? I can't recall.. But Adrian's a cool actor tho!)

Can't our dramas be more passionate? I would love it if it has a touch of class in it as well.

Boring boring boring! even our police criminal solving shows are boring... Look at CSI! How cool is that!

Are we Singaporeans not bitchy enough to show the bitchy side to us? Well they should have seen and know my secondary school girls and learn a little from them to know how scheming they were... I had a tough time in school at that time and no there wasn't any gossip girl website for me to post their secrets lol..

Ooh well whatever, that's history now and I have to learn to forgive and forget...

That's all for now,

You know you love me..

xoxo,

Gossip girl (yea like real haha)

I'm back from my trip! 3 days just passed so fast, i hated it!

I read something meaningful in my colleague's blog and that really made me think a lot in my life as well.

Ever since granny passed away in March this year, life just don't seem the same anymore... I miss popo soo sooo much!

I remembered when I was in Primary school, whenever I want to go out with my friends e.g. I remembered I had a Primary school teacher by the name of Sabrina Soh. Ms Soh is leaving us to go overseas. I was very sad as I love Ms Soh a lot! My classmates and I wanted to sent Ms Soh off at the airport and as granny don't bear for me to go alone, she insist on going and sat behind watching me while i was chatting away with my friends.

I remembered my friends calling popo Doraemon as my granny has a bag full of things and everything I need, she will always keep them in handy e.g. plaster, medical stuff, tissue etc.

Popo, I miss the way you smell and the way you nagged at me.. I am very blessed to have a granny like that and without her, I will not be what I am today. I had an unpleasant childhood and people always judge me differently. I get misunderstood all the time but in her eyes, I am the best. Everytime I think of granny, it just makes me wanna tear..

Come to think of it, I am already 26 this year. 26 god damn blardy years and what have I achieved? What are my objectives in my life? I want my life to be meaningful and that's something money cannot buy. A meaning full life don't really consist of chanel and LV bags and as much as I like them, the money seriously can be used in a more meaningful way. I don't want my achievements to be e.g.
1) How many LV/Gucci/Prada/Chanel/Coach bags I own
2) Gold Digger, not handsome nevermind, not good nevermind, rich can le
3) I earn 20k a month and my office is practically my second home as I stay there for 18 hrs a day!
4) I own a landed property (but no one to stay with me)

No~ no! no!!!!

What I want in life:
1) to spend more time with my dada
2) to set up a family with dada
3) to spend more time with my family
4) to spend more time with my friends
5) to do more charity work to help others

My work is really posing a big problem in my life at the moment as I need to work night shift. That really sucked at time as I can't do a lot of things.

A quote from my colleague's blog:

"All the material things I have now will not be able to bring along with me when I die. Just like how I came to this world, empty handed. Like what one of my galfren say, they are just on "loan" to me."

If it really is on loan, means the more i spend now, use now, waste now, splurge now, the more I need to return in future? If it really is so then its scary.

I've been missing out on so much! Yes the money's good but there are a lot of things money can't buy.

I need to set my priorities right! Time waits for no man/woman!

Wedding ideas!!!!!!

I need wedding ideas from all of you..

Any great places for me to hold my ROM?

Everything is in a mess and I don't know where to start!!!

Ideas everyone!!!! Where’s all my love! hehe

By the way, I am aiming to get a place in Bishan.. Just a HDB and I hope to get a 4rm that's near MRT. It shall be our nest hehehehhhe

Today I shall be here to talk about my experience in Bridal Studio hunting.

I've been to those roadshows that they have as well as to some of the personal shops and there are good and bad about all of them. Basically, all bridal studio will use different tips and tricks to get you to sign with them. E.g. they will use the “promotion is only valid for today" crap. I nearly fell into some of them but in the end, I go with what my heart desires.. Imagine all the horrors when I heard of stories of Bridal Studios (BS) forcing couples to sign package with them even though they are not even considering marriage yet. It's sad to know that there are pretty young couples out there who were psychoed into such situations. Here are some notes that I have noted on some BS in Singapore. Do note that all these are based on my personal experience and it may not apply to all.

1) My Bridal Room.
Frankly speaking, I have to admit that their services are pretty decent. I can feel that they are a bunch of warm and friendly people who are indeed trying their best to help all the brides and grooms. One of their most popular member of their team is by the name of Uncle Quek. Uncle Quek did share a lot of his experience with us and to be frank dada and I were impressed with the photography skills. The reason why I did not sign up a package was because I tried on some dresses and I specifically wanted to test them on what outfit suits me. This is crucial as we all want to look our best on our big day and if the experts can't choose something that suits me, I can't imagine how it is going to be when i choose my actual wedding dress. But I can see that this BS has a good range of men's suit (not the usual ah pek style that I see some BS has) and their flowers are lovely. Should the wedding dress be a good fit and as accordance to my taste, this BS will be in my top 3 list. However, they are not pushy to us when we say that we want to consider first and this is a good plus point! Package is pretty reasonable. A good place if you have a tight budget to keep to.

2) My Bridal Concept.
My ex colleague Momo introduced me to this place.. And so did one of dada's colleagues. The gowns they have were pretty decent however some of them look pretty worn out and I can even see broken beads on the gowns when I tried them on. Photos wise to me are pretty normal but I love their ROM dresses. The co-ordinator who served me is by the name of Jennie and she is lovely. She noticed what I like and also showed me dressed that suits my body shape and knows what dresses to hide my flaws. Guys suit wise, there isn't a lot of variety and it looks pretty dated. Photography wise is also pretty much normal to me and dada so we decided this was not the place for us even though the ROM dress that I tried is so pretty.

3) French Bridal.
OMG this BS still gives me nightmares. I was served by their designer called Paulson and till now I am still wondering how can my co-ordinator be the designer and yet he always complain to me that he is very busy designing for the next bridal show. How can he have enough time and patience to assist me in queries I have. If you like satin gowns, this is the place to be. They have nice long trains and those huge ribbons kind. I have to admit I am pretty terrified of the service I received there.. eeks!

4) Silhoutte
I can only say 2 words: "GORGEOUS DRESSES!!" Well but of course as they specialises in gowns! This place customises gowns to fit you however the package price can kill me haha. The package is around $4888 and they only provide 1 Wedding gown (WG) 1 Evening Gown (EG) 2 suits, flowers and make up for actual day. The place looks so ATAS that it's embarrassing to bargain with them. I was served by a lady called Minda and she really has an eye for detail. She really knows what I want just by asking me a few questions and by the way I behave. That or maybe she is just lucky to choose for me gowns that fit me like a princess. I told her my concern for bridal gowns and the first gown I tried already makes me feel like drooling. However, even if I have the kind of cash, this is not what I want. 1) they do not provide photography services for pre-wedding shots which is very important to me as think about how busy I am and yet I need to source for my own outside photographer. So other then the 4888 you need to pay, you maybe need to pay another 1-2k more for the photographer 2) u only have 1 EG and 1 WG so all your photos will only be those 2 dress which to me I like variety. 3) The package really has too little things. 4) I think other BS can have similar gowns but you just need to try and try and try till you find the one.

5) Golden Horse Academy
I did not try the dresses in this place as I went to the suntec roadshow to find out more. The lady who serves us happens to be the manager of the shop and she likes dada a lot! She keeps on saying that he resembles a TW actor and wants him/us to be models for them. You cannot imagine how much I laughed that day everytime I think of it. The package they provided to us is pretty tempting as being model couples; our package is different from the list that was shown to the usual customers. However, we were not impressed with their photos at all as it looks kinda amateur to us. The gowns were just so so only. Not impressive.

6) Whitelink
With sincere apologies, I really hope that the lady who served us can forgive us. We sat less than 10 mins and we left because we canned them right on the spot. First, I wasn't impressed with the gowns that they have displayed. At least have the decency to display quality ones and not those who may make you look like a duck with so many feathery stuff on the backside of your gown. I also feel that I cannot communicate well with that lady as she just throw me any package that they have and tell me they can customise everything. I don't even know what I need yet so how can I customise it. She keep on telling me cause today she has not closed any sale so whatever I need, she will try to help me. Gosh how can you ever tell people that.. It only proves something maybe wrong that's why you have no sales. I just felt that this isn't what I like and left on the spot.

7) Sattine.
I went to their booth because the dress on display is simply gorgeous. However, I just let them go on and on about their package after seeing their photos as I felt it was just ok ok only.

8) Julia Wedding News.
Julia has lovely WGs and I tried on one that fits me perfectly. However, the EGs that I saw weren’t to my liking and I saw that their range of Kuas was normal as well. They are one of the better BS in Singapore and they try to upmarket their reputation as well. If you like to be under a BS that is very popular with TW celebs like Ah ya, Xiao S and 5566, then this is the place for you. I have a friend who loves their photography skills so I guess if you decide to go with them, why not. Their package is pretty standard I guess. Dada specifically request to see their men's suit as well and we were told that the range is pretty limited. However, there is one point that I do not like about them which I feel is not convenient to tell as my friend told me that she did not experience that while she was there. I read online and see complaints of limited wedding gowns and disppointment many recieved while they were overseas in TW.

9) My Dream Wedding
Ok, dada and I love the style of how they take their photos and their service. I get along with their manager Lydia very well and Amy from their HK branch is a very sweet lady. We are very impress with their HK photos so couples who wishes to take wedding photos in HK, I would highly recommand them. Many HK celebs endorse for them and their wedding photos suits our taste. Everyone there is very warm and friendly and I can really see that they put a lot of effort in serving their customers. As being a HK company, they have an impressive range of Kuas that is all the way from HK. But still!! Thumbs up for service!

10) Sophia Wedding Collection
I guess I was one lucky bitch when I went to enquire about their package. Apparently, it was their anniversary and I had a whooping 30% off my package and with lots of throw ins from them. We like their package as it is very comprehensive and they really include a lot in the package. I do hear lots of stories when I go to other bridal studios that they mention to beware of BS that provide too cheap package or package that provides too many things - cause apparently they say where got so good one. Well, before I went down, I went to sgbrides forum to read about them and there are a lot of good reviews about them. A lot of people complain about their expensive package (which i got 30% off yay again) and also also about a certain co-ordinator who heng isn't mine. Gowns wise, they have gowns which are very bling bling (i like!!), princessy gowns, and elegant laces ones and also gowns which have very long trains which make you feel like a princess. Unlike French Bridal, they have different staff who specialise in different things e.g. my co-ordinator will be arranging all my schedule e.g. choosing of gowns, make up artist, photography, designer etc., while for gowns, I can get my opinion from their designer. Service wise, I think they are pretty ok. I can see that this BS is always very busy and their business is very good. Apparently they do not do roadshows and survive in this business for so many years through recommendations from their customers. I realised that a lot of my friends are all sophia brides and they have nothing but praises for them. One even told me that I am in good hands and I should not worry. Overall, I am happy with the package that was given to me as with my bargaining powers, I have to say I got a pretty good deal. Apparently, they have a MUA who everyone says have magical hands that do wonders. And yes! I booked her for my ROM makeup already. Will I recommand them to my girls, till now, I would say yes! But more will be informed at a later date should anything surface.

Tips and tricks:

My advice for you girls is to go online and do your research first. List down a list of things that you need or even don't need as even if they give you, you have a choice to use it or not.

Usually, when you enquire, they will be very flexible but once you sign on the dotted line, $$$ usually comes in whenever you need anything additional.

Never sign up without trying their gowns.

As much as my opinions above matters, it all boils down to yourself eventually and you must like what you pay. You can pay a lot for a package which has little things but if you need to top up a lot after that, at least it's worth it cause it is what you want.

My girls, in future if you need me to go down and help you bargain and if I am free, I will be really glad to do so for you!

Up next, I need to source for my bridal shoes, my ROM venue and caterers if I need. Recommendations are welcome. Please do let me know

As much as I do not wish to say this but the bitch in me is trying to surface once again..

I think that at times, people mistaken the way I look and thought that I am someone who they can mess around with.. but they are so blardy wrong as the bitch in me is just raging with anger!

As if life's not crappy enough, you get to deal with people who are complete freaks and treat people as if the whole world owes them..

I do not owe anyone anything so do not give me crap!

The big day!

Well I am engaged!!!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!! *gives the girly high pitch scream and starts jumping around.*

This is definitely not what I expected I swear as I thought it is not going to happen till like a few months later.

Come to think of it I want to laugh.. a few days prior to the proposal, Mathilda, Elaine and a few other girls were like asking me on separate occasions when will Ron propose to me and they are suspecting its soon!

I brushed off the idea as the day before the proposal, I told Ron that a few of my girlfriends have been asking me about it and that I am suspecting its on my birthday! Haha I am always playing around with my words to trick him out of saying something.

He told me that if I want a proposal anytime soon, it will just be a “any-o-how” kinda thing and that I will be sooooo not impressed.

So I was like ok loh! As I did not want it to be a “Want to buy HDB not” moment as its damn corny la. So not romantic at all!

So here’s the lovely story on what happened that faithful day:

4th July 2009 - Saturday

We woke up at around noon and I was very tired as we want for supper the night before. I was nagging at dada what could be so important to Zhen Hui and Sharon that they are not free to celebrate my birthday with me today.

Sharon told me on Monday that she wasn’t able to make it on Saturday as she had something on and wanted me to celebrate on Sunday with her. I was like what to do! I want my girlfriends and my dada to celebrate with me as that is the most important thing to me.

So I have no choice but to say ok (though quite reluctantly but haha :P)

So dada said why not we go for our dinner just the 2 of us and I just let him plan the whole thing himself.

He suggested Oosh Restaurant in Dempsey which is somewhere we wanted to go but have not been. Our reservation was at 7.30pm and since it was still early, dada suggested we take a walk in the Botanical Gardens instead.

We only covered a small area as it was simply too big and was just busy snapping pictures away hehe.

Due to the high heels that I have worn, my feet were so tired that I suggested that we go to the restaurant first.

We took a cab there (wasted $5 as it was so near only but its ok cause leg pain haha) and when I reached there, the waiter told me to wait for a while as they need to go see if the table was set properly.

I was telling dada that the place don’t seem to be crowded so why must be so troublesome still need to wait.

It seems so ATAS to me I told him that maybe we should change location cause it seems expensive. But he reassured me as he said it is my birthday so we can have something better.

I looked around the place and find the ambience quite romantic and was pretty excited. The waiter then guided us to our table and showed us the menu.

It was just a small table, enough for 2, with a candle lit in the middle and was pretty impress as it was kinda romantic.

As I was browsing through the menu, someone actually tapped me from behind and screamed “SURPRISE!!!”

I was like “WHAT THE!!” haha and I saw Sharon, Zhenhui, Ade and Jennifer behind me!

I was very happy as I was like telling them that I was thinking what could be more important to them than celebrating my birthday this weekend hahahahaa!

I was then guided to a bigger table with the surroundings decorated with the “Happy Birthday” sign as well as heart shaped balloons!

We were laughing away and trying to gather up to take pictures as well as order our food. The Portobello mushrooms are delicious! I simply love it! They ordered the oysters but were pretty disappointed as they thought that it was raw but it was baked with garlic and I think cheese. Still! I thought it tasted horrible! Haha Kaixin (my sis) came to join us as well and I was sooooo happy!

After our order was taken, someone tapped me from behind AGAIN and give me a big bouquet of flowers with a dish covered with a lid from.. They told me it is my birthday cake and I was still digesting that information in my mind.. (Slow yea i know haha). Anyway they were rushing me and quickly sang the birthday song and yet in my mind I was like WTH! Where’s my candles and why are they singing so fast? I wasn’t fast enough to react and I was like huh.. Ok cake... ok open up the lid.. And in the lid lay a pretty blue box that simply melt my heart...

Dear and I went ring shopping before like half a year back cause he wanted to know what kinda designs I like and as you know... picky me.. I am very particular about things haha! So I told him I like Goldheart (cause Ailin’s ring is so nice la), Larry Lazare (due to the many reviews that it is v bling!!) and last but not least Tiffany. As much as I like Tiffany, I know its blardy ex la so I tell him whatever he buys for me I will like it! So the rest was up to him... but deep in my heart I was praying that Tiffany be mine!!!!

So back to the proposal! After I saw the box, dear took it and started to adjust his chair so that he can kneel down... I never expect him to do this.. to kneel down that is but he did! He said a few words to me.. (Dun wan to tell you what haha) and I can see tears in his eyes.. (so sweet) I know he sincerely meant it and I love him so much so I said yes! Of course la!!! Haha

I love my ring la!! So big!! So happy!!! But at that time i was still WTH just happened and I did not take it in all.. So shocked and surprised.. I did not cry (not the sort who cry in front of others and I think none of my friends ever saw me cry before!! Not even my besties). Sharon did a nice and lovely Proposal Cert for us! I love it!

We penned down our signature!

They have gotten it videoed:

Zhenhui then told me she have a surprise for me and then asked me over to another place in the restaurant where I can see a live band perform. She told me she made a special arrangement and the live band sang a birthday song to me.. It was ooh so sweet! So nice le!

After the song, the band asked if I want to join them for a song and I was like what the? I wasn’t even prepared and I am sure I can’t think of any song to sing right then haha so we went back to the table.

The waiter then called me back to the same place as the band wanted to dedicate another song to me.. It was a slow piece I think by John Mayer and dada was with me.. So I talked to him.. Just the 2 of us.. And asked him how long he took to prepare and how did he do it.. He then spills it all to me and it was then I cried. I cried cause I was touched by what he did, by how much he may spent on my ring cause I was shocked when he told me the size, by how much my friends have done for me to make this a special day. On Wednesday, dada bluff me say he was going out with his guy friends for a game of billard but in actual fact he met Zhenhui to recee Dempsey to find a nice place. Zhenhui actually drove him there and went with him to scout the place.. And during lunch time, Zhenhui, Sharon and him met up too to plan on the whole thing.. I will get him to blog from his side of the story as well haha..

The thing about dada is he knows that I will get suspicious and will do silly things.. Dada knows that I may check up on him and he actually got Zhenhui to keep my ring so that she can bring it on the actual day. Truth is that on Friday, I got suspicious as I wondered why the girls cannot meet me! I was still v annoyed with it haha. I was looking around dada’s bag to see if got anything special or something but of course I did not find anything. I think dada did tell Zhenhui that I will search his bag or something for clues and I am guilty as charged lol. I found nothing! And I suspect nothing! That is what made it more shocking for me!
But of course I dried my tears before I do back to my table and Zhenhui then ask me why we never slow dance -.-“

We had our dinner and it was lovely.. and we took ooh so many pictures...
